Dessert et banane…

Dessert et banane…
This week, I am telling you my obstacle course to go see the Dolce and Gabbana exhibition.
It has been almost 4 months that this exhibition calls to me, but with the lack of time and tickets that sell out at the speed of light, I am left high and dry… Thank you Paris.
Miraculously, I ended up getting the precious door opener: a last-minute spot, the very last day, at 8:30 AM. Yes, you read it right, 8:30 AM!
Like on a metro line at the same time of day, the line is never-ending. But seeing all these people that wake up at dawn to admire pieces of clothing, obviously, I like it.
I enter the den of D&G…
The set design is breathtaking. The mannequins take centre stage grouped and immersed at the heart the universes that were the source of inspiration for our two geniuses. Mirrors and gilts, Greek pillars, Sicilian market, sky and cherubs, Byzantine mosaic, Murano chandeliers… When it comes to sound, like in the Macumba club, one room, one atmosphere. Requiem, heartbeats, flapping heel noise, opera song… The experience is completely immersive. Despite the crowd, I am thrilled.
As for fashion, every piece of clothing is an art piece. Embroideries, beads, valuable fabrics patchworks, lace, velvet, Jacquard, a lot of gold… Abundance and femininity. In turns, the atmosphere was sensual, almost mafia like with The Godfather soundtrack on the background. Then, it was Sicily, joy, feathers, vivid colours, and full of sunshine lemons.

On the top floor, you enter the workshop, the theatre backstage. Fabric rolls, sketches, scissors… The house intimacy. You imagine thousands of little hands meticulously working on each piece with patience and passion. The hand, the know-how and countless hours of work to serve genius.
The exhibition ends with this quote: “Fashion is art, but mostly a tool to express yourself, don't be afraid to be unique.” That’s really what needed to be proven, thank you gentlemen.
Have a nice weekend,
Camille
PS: psst, only two days left to take advantage of our Victoire homme archive sale. Sunday night, it’s over!
