In Italian, the word « barena » refers to the lagoon bank, these lands that are below sea level. Venice is the essence of the brand Barena created in 1961 by Francesca Zara. Her ambition was to grasp habits and styles of the inhabitants of this very unique land. Well yes, the Barena style is inspired by fishermen, hunters, farmers… On a side note, the label brings to mind the orange torch that gondoliers use in the fog. If you try a Barena piece on, you will understand straight away what is a practical and functional piece of clothing, and it’s normal, it was made for someone who works hard.
